LOCAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES:

After successful completion of the course, several options are available:

1)  Nursing home  nurse aide positions
2)  Home health aide positions through local agencies
3)  Nursing home  nurse aide  "on call" positions through local agencies
4)  Patient care assistant(PCA) positions at local hospitals
5)  Assisted-living nurse aides
6)  Group homes or foster care homes as nurse aides

Many Comstock Community Education nurse aide students are working on prerequisites for registered nurse, physician assistant, physician, and other health careers and use this class as a "stepping stone" to other health care fields.  Many of these advanced programs require several hundred hours of patient care experience.  After completing our course, these students work part-time in nursing homes, home health agencies, and hospitals  as nurse aides to complete this requirement for their advanced studies.
