    WORLD HISTORY UNITS
Americans love the first Monday in September.  Why?  It's Labor Day!  Labor Day is a national holiday; therefore, there is no school on that day.  However, America did not always celebrate Labor Day.  In what year did Labor Day become an official national holiday?
Martin Luther King Day is another national holiday in the United States.  In January, you will be studying about his life and impact.  You also will be memorizing part of his famous "I Have a Dream" speech.  Past sixth graders have enjoyed this unit! Please research this holiday and discover when Martin Luther King Day became a national holiday.
