WHY RECYCLE E-WASTE:  Recycling and reusing electronic equipment reduces the amount of hazardous materials that may enter the environment including lead, mercury and other toxins. Recycling e-waste also reduces the quantities of electronic scrap that will be land filled in our city and region. A typical television or computer contains four to eight pounds of lead.

In 2008, the City of Lee’s Summit collected more than 130,000 pounds of electronics waste at our Spring and Fall events!

VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED to help unload cars and direct traffic. In addition, community service hours are available for students who volunteer.  However, court-ordered community service hours will not be offered for this event.
