Jay: And what did you cut it on, do you remember?
Jude: It was a kind of, there was a sort of spring loaded door that used to close behind me so that I could make fast exits and entrances, yeah and I caught it on the hinge.
Jay: Oookay now, tell us about Cold Mountain. Boy, this is pretty amazing. I guess this looks like an epic, isnt it?
Jude: Yeah.
Jay: Its beautifully shot, it takes place in the Civil War, well [hints for Jude to take over]
Jude: It takes place in the Civil War, its really the story of, uh a young soldier that I play called Inman whose a Confederate who is separated from his sweetheartthey share one kissand then theyre separated for four years and both go through a huge change. He witnesses the awful battles at Petersburg and Gettysburg.
Jay: Right.
Jude: And she loses her father and has to learn to survive on her own. Shes a sort of lady from Charleston who has to learn suddenly to survive on the land. And he finally gets a letter from her asking him to come home and you then follow his journey, this sort of odyssey through the war-torn land that is America in the Civil War, and meanwhile watch her waiting and waiting and waiting and, uh changing, ultimately, before he arrives back.
Jay: Well we have a clip here, lets take a look, Im not sure
Jude: I think this is a moment that they share together Ada and Inman, yeah.
Jay: Yeah, take a look, here we go: Cold Mountain.
[The Ill marry you, Ill marry you... clip is played up until the point where, after Ada tells Inman to turn around, he says No. No I will not. The audience is somewhat breathless and goes oooh after its over]
Jay: Great job, terrific job. It opens Christmas Day, perfect day.
Jude: Mmm, yeah.
Jay: Jude, wonderful work [holds out his hand and they shake]. Thank you, always a pleasure.
Jude: Thanks for having me.
Jay: Jude Law! Well be right back with Tracey Morgan right after this.
[Audience cheers and Jude looks out at them and smiles] |
