D: Your buddy Tom Hanks was here last night, what a fantastic actor. [Jude nods agreeably] Now working with him must just be a pleasure to show up everyday. Because I bet he's good natured, infectious, regardless through the tough times and great times of making a movie like this, huh?
J: It was a joy, you know. I mean, whether it was hanging out with him and uh, talking to him, he's a consummate professional. You know, a gentleman, and fun. And it was easy to go to work.
D: And also Paul Newman?
J: Paul Newman.
D: That's gotta be a bonus for anybody, don't you think?
J: Uh, you know, it's uh... he's been giving me a lot of advice actually. 'Cause obviously he likes cars, and not just racing cars. My wife's about to have our fourth child, so I'm looking for a much bigger vehicle. And of course Paul is immediately, "What vehicle are you getting?!" [looks at Dave wide-eyed, immitating Paul's thrill; Dave laughs along with the audience][Jude sits up tall and casts his hand outward] "Are you looking at the uh, you know... the Navigator or the Expedition, or what sort of size? Left hand, right hand drive?" He's got a lot of advice.
D: So he's gonna help you with a car. Can he get you a deal?
J: Well that's what I'm really hoping! On the side! [smiles, and pretends to pass something secretly to the side of him]
D: Get you in touch with the Devil, my friend [Jude laughs]. And in addition to the new family member, what are your plans for the summer?
J: I'm flying back tonight actually, uh, via London back to Romania to start shooting Cold Mountain.
D: That was a good novel, wasn't it?
J: Wonderful novel.
D: Good for you, and your movie again opens Friday.
J: That's right.
D: It's going to be an enormous film, don't you think? Don't you get the feeling of that?
J: I hope so. It's one of those--it's got a wonderful kind of genre which is the gangster movie, but within it, it's a beautiful story.
D: Yeah.
J: Of a father and a son.
D: It's interesting and fascinating.
J: And a great cast.
D: And nicely done. Nice to see you again. [extends hand and they shake]
J: Lovely to see you.
D: Thank you very much for being here.
J: Thank you.
D: Jude Law, everybody! [they look out into the audience as they begin to applaud] We'll be right back!
