August 4th Update: We have now been a family for two whole months! Grace is doing wonderfully. In the first month she was home she gained almost two pounds (up to 18.1 pounds) and grew an inch and a quarter (she is now 29" tall). Grace sleeps through the night and takes one nap during the day. She eats anything we put in front of her. She has started to crawl, but prefers to "roll" to get where she wants to go. She can walk when Mommy or Daddy are holding her hands. Yesterday Daddy bought a digital camera, so we'll be able to post some more recent pictures here very soon.
August 22 Update: Grace is doing well. The last week or so she has been crankier than usual, but we attribute that to her getting more teeth! At last count she as 4 on the top and 2 on the bottom. She is crawling like a banshee now and we predict she'll be walking soon as her favorite pasttime is to grab onto Mommy's hands and walk everywhere!. Grace is also waving "Bye Bye" and claps when you say "Good Girl!". Check back soon when we hope to have more recent pictures posted!
September 7 Update: Grace now has four upper AND four lower teeth. Food options are opening up for her, but we have found that bland foods are a No No! It has to have flavor or she doesn't want it. Yesterday Grace got to play with Rebecca, aged 20 months, who came home from China in 11/00 and lives just a few houses away. They had a wonderful time together. Grace is also getting very close to walking. She now pulls herself up using whatever is handy. Especially fun is walking along the big family room couch. She does try to walk by herself but currently lands on her diaper padded behind! Next weekend is her first road trip! We'll all be heading to Sierra City for a weekend of fishing! We're planning on the 4.5 hour drive taking at least 6. We'll let you know how it goes.
September 18 Update: Our trip to Sierra City for a weekend of fishing was a success. Grace did great on the car ride. Due to traffic the ride took quite a bit longer than planned. She cried only the last 15 mins. or so (she was in the carseat a total of 5.5 hours!). Daddy got his requisite 1 fish per trip and kindly let it go. Grace took her first hike! She loved being up so high in her backpack. Daddy, on the other hand learned that an extra 20 pound when hiking is pretty rough. Grace even napped in her backpack, but did have trouble getting to sleep the first night, as it was her first night away from home. I think it helped that Mommy and Daddy were in the same room. She also had fun watching cousin Max, age 5, catch TWO trout!
October 22 Update: Alot has happened in the past month. The most momentous is that Grace has started WALKING! Boy are we in trouble now. It's hard to believe that this is the same little girl that we were handed on June 4th who could barely hold her head up, couldn't sit by herself and couldn't roll over. Grace will be celebrating her first Halloween here at home in just over a week. She will be masquerading as a black and white cow...not the most elegant of costumes, but definitely cute. We'll be sure and post pictures. I tried to talk Daddy into dressing up as Tigger. Not this year, but I'll get him to do it eventually!! Hope you enjoy the new pictures. I'll get one posted of her walking within a few days!
December 4 Update: Today we celebrate our 6 month anniversary as a family! During the last month Grace has had quite a few visitors. She saw Joel and Andrew again who came up to help celebrate Amy's 40th birthday. She first met Joel and Andrew at LAX on her way home from China. At long last she also got to meet her Grandpa Bob and Grandma Betty who were out visiting from Florida. Grace also got to see her Aunt Betsy and Uncle David again. Betsy and David stayed with us our first three days home from China...we couldn't have survived without them! We are busy preparing for the holidays, and will probably go and cut down our Christmas tree this weekend. We're still trying to figure out how a tree and a toddler will mix!
January 2, 2002 Grace continues to amaze us with her antics and smiles. There is never a dull moment in the Radeski household. Grace celebrated her 1st Christmas in the U.S. this past week. While she doesn't yet understand what it is all about, she had fun playing with the wrapping paper and boxes. The Christmas tree, which we were afraid would be just too tempting, didn't seem to attract her, thank goodness! As you can see in the picture below, Grace got to see her cousin, Elizabeth Ann (7 mos.) on Christmas, as well as the 6 new puppies! We have all had colds here, so things have been quiet. In fact, we all rang in the new year while sound asleep. Here's hoping that 2002 will be a healthy, happy year for everyone!

March 14, 2002 It's been awhile since an update...Sorry. Grace continues to blossom and bring her Mommy and Daddy both smiles and frustration! We took our 2nd car trip in Feb. and Grace was a champ. She fussed only about 30 mins. of the 8+ hours we were in the car, and she waited patiently (NOT) while Mommy and Daddy wine tasted. Since Grace came home we have resigned ourselves to the fact that our home will never be as clean as it used to be (see photo above). We just calmly tell visitors that Hurricane Grace lives here! Grace can now tell us if she is hungry. She goes into the tupperware drawer, gets a container out and puts it on the kitchen counter, then goes to the pantry door and pounds on it and yells "Num Num"!
