| Seeking the Blood By: M9 Disclaimer: This is simply fiction. There is no truth to these words, simply a need for distracting entertainment. The Story: He crouched, the lithe, inhuman creatures form arching unnaturally yet easily against the darkened sky. His hands clutched the edge of the roofing, long fingers gripping the cool cement and crumbling tile roofing in quiet excitement. There they were. The two humans below. He had been watching them for hours now, wondering when they would leave the safety of the bar lights and enter within easy reach of his bony but strong grasp. He was hungry. Hed been hungry since morning. Hunting would have been plentiful in this overpopulated town. Just crouching on top of the roof he could smell the currents of scents drifting upward with the scant breezes, tickling his nostrils and raising the pangs of thirst in his chest, throat and mouth. The musky scent of human, the sweat, the breath, the faint lingering traces of blood enticed and assaulted him at every direction he faced, wind or no. The hunting would have been good, yes, had this creature not been hunting for just the right type of blood. The blood of his ancient enemy, the infamous and priceless Green Jade. Only the blood of his old nemesis could appease his thirst, that was the curse laid upon the creature. It paused, no longer trying to sniff the air for the familiar scents. He leaned back on his haunches and considered for a moment. He needed a plan. The two down below seemed to be complacent, chatting amiably while they waited for transportation. How innocent, how helpless they presented themselves to the night filled world. Didnt they know how much danger they were in at the moment? How thin their life-thread dwindled? The creature sighed softly, letting the small breath escape his thin lips with pleasure. He loved to watch them, unaware and unnoticing of their surroundings as they were. The tall one with the extra bone mass about his face now speaks softly, out of hearing. The creature watches in delight as Green Jades head tilts back to let loose a merry laugh that carries in the night. That neck. . . long and elegant. . . his fingers curled achingly in mid-air, wanting desperately to sink into that tender flesh and rip flesh with abandonment. And when enough of that delicate flesh was torn, the creature grinned fiendishly, hed lap up the blood like a wild dog. That sweet, sweet blood. . . He winced as a shot of pain jolted through his stomach. Enough waiting! His feast waited below him, slowly edging to the dark shadow of the alley, so close to where the creature now jumped down to. . . **************************** Adam walked out first, Jade just two steps behind him. Damn! Adam cried out, grinning. Its fucking cold out here. He stuffed his hands deep into his black jeans and looked back at Jade. I know, Jade gave him a half smile. Wonder where Hunts at? Adam snorted. Went to take a leak before we left, didnt you hear? Now he spoke low, Anyway, no need to ask where the diva went. Dont look, but I can see him, just out the corner of my eye. Hes trying to stalk us again, in that alley. This last came out the side of his mouth. Jades lips twitched. That was simply too sweet. All day Davey had been in a strangely arousing predatory mood. Hed stalk each member of their quartet for a period of time, then pretend he wasnt doing anything at all. Twice Jade caught him, Daveys hand nearly at the back of his head or Davey trying desperately to flatten himself into a thinly shadowed corner of the room hed been using as cover. I wouldnt mind a little dark alley scuffle, Jade smirked at his friend, earning a wide smile from the drummer. The way hes been acting lately, I think maybe its some kind of new game he wants to play. Er. . . you think you an Hunter will be okay without us tonight? Who knows how long well have the alley to ourselves. Adam covered his mouth to hide his chortles. As they talked, hed watched Jade slowly begin to edge toward the alley opening. Yeah sure, Adam gave him a small, helping pushing back, go play your twisted games in the alley, you dirty, dirty whores. Jealous? Jade managed to give him a wink before two heavily tattooed arms reached out and pulled him into the darkness. There was a yelp, then a dark chuckle from within the shadows. Adam shook his head, smiling wistfully, then turned in time to meet Hunter just coming out of the bar. Damn! Hunter said, stuffing his hands into his blue jeans, Its fucking cold out here! Adam laughed. Exactly what I said! So what are we doing out here? Lets go somewhere warm. He looked up and down the street. Er, wheres the prima donna and the loony tunes? Adam smiled and motioned with his thumb at the alley behind them. Daveys attacked Jade and dragged him into the alley. Theyre trying some kinky shit, or somethin. Wont be coming out for a while. As they stood there for a moment, the sounds from the alley suddenly filled the empty street. Soft, moaning whimpers. . . the sound of bodies pressed against the wall. . . the wet smacking sounds of lips on skin. . . and then a more liquid sound that made both Adam and Hunter grimace. Think Id like that taxi over there now. Adam muttered, quickly hurrying across the street. Yeah, me too. Hunter frowned, wondering when his imagination would stop trying to put a picture to the sounds theyd heard. He peeked over at Adam and saw, with a blush, his friend was probably wondering the same, also. ************************* Back at the alley. The entrance and entire length is still pitch dark. There wont be light until dawn, when almost no one is out in this part of town. But thats alright, since there really isnt any reason anyone would want to come out here, in back of the alley (come out here, Ive something to show you. . .) No, no reason at all. The creature straightens and lets out a small, if not satisfying, belch. It stretches and scratches the side of his abdomen. That was a satisfying meal. The best hed had in days. It pauses, then sniffs the air. Well, the chase was certainly over. His prey turned out to be not so challenging after all. The game had ended all too quickly he realized, leaving him unfulfilled. Sure, his stomach was full and he no longer had that insatiable thirst. . . but what now? Now that hed finally had the blood hed hunted for? What was left for him? The creature pondered, then froze in realization. What if he DIDNT get the right blood? What if the blood he was searching for wasnt this Green Jade, but the Red Adam, or the Blue Hunter? Hunter. . . The creature glared fiercely, fists held tightly in anger. There could not be TWO hunters in one domain. This creature was a lone predator and saw no need to share his abundance of fresh prey with another. The creature grunted, then stepped out of the alley. There, in the open light, it moved with a calm, feline grace and swift, concealed awareness of the world around it. It had made up its mind. There was an immediate contest to his domain. Another was trying to rise up and take his position. This new hunter had to be taken down. Davey smiled with anticipation, absently licking the corner of his mouth where a tiny drop of blood still remained. |
