I gotten the idea right after 9/11 happened and President Bush decided to go worth a war on gasoline. Which reminded me alot on the aliens from Independence Day who come to Earth to destory all the living beings and take all of its natural resources of themselves. Kind of reminds you of what Bush is doing over at Iraq. The globe is symbolic for world domination while the pen is symbolic to the power of what a president has over a nation. If one looks at the shadow of the pen one couldnt know where the light is coming from inside or outside. Giving a thought that the presidents influence can be coming from inside the White House (house represitative or cabinet) or from outside being influenced from the public ( people).
This whole painting is all on balence. There are parallel lines like crazy as well as triangels and diamonds which gives the veiwer a sense of where to look then rest. It is hard to find a painting that is created with both metallic and opaque colors.
