| Roswell has given me a lot of things throughout the past three years it's been on television. It's given me more friends than I could ever ask for (Thanks Wax Pack, Trude, Rach, Chelsey, and Gracie), yet it's also given me a reason to live. I found myself drawn to it every single week it was on. I constantly wanted to know what was going to happen to the Royal Four and their human comrades/lovers. I tell people that I love Roswell and they reply, "How can you love a TV show?" I can't explain to them how or why I fell in love with Roswell. If I told them all the reasons that I've placed in this post, they would think I was crazy. The good thing about all Roswell fans is that a person doesn't have to explain why they love Roswell - they know. My very best and dear friend Erin, who is an avid Roswell fan like I am, allowed me to post her posts onto this - Well it's unbelievably sad - expected, but still sad. This show - the story, the characters, the cast, the fans, the everything have been such a big part of my life for the past three years that I feel like there is just this void. I know it sounds a bit dumb to say a tv show was such a big deal, but what can I say? There was just "something" about Roswell that I know no other show could ever hope to capture. I remember at the end of S1, being all involved in the Roswell is Hot! Campaign, working to let anyone and everyone know of Roswell's magic. When I was interviewed for TV Guide, I remember trying my hardest to explain to this reporter why to us it was so necessary to save this show. It's difficult to tell just anybody, but with fans they just know. A lot of us have believed this show has had it's ups and downs, but I don't think anyone would have stuck around this long if it wasn't something special. And as others have said, it's been made painfully obvious repeatedly what an amazing, dedicated, caring, unique group of Roswell fans are. No other fandom could even try to compare. Thank you cast, crew, the writers, the producers, Jason Katims, and the fans. You've all truly made Roswell one in a million. ......... I spent almost two hours just listening to Roswell songs from the past 3 seasons, and as I remembered each scene they were played in, I couldn't help but cry. And I get those chills - you know *the* Roswell chills - the kind that affects your whole body and cause a ache - sometimes an elated one, sometimes a painful one - in your chest. H***i - your post was so beautiful - I'm 18 and over the past 3 years this show has taught me about love, what it really means to love someone. And I can't say it any better than you can, so thank you for your words. The only person I've told about the cancellation is my best friend Jamie (me!), because she is also a MAJOR MAJOR Roswell fan. I'm sure I'll tell others soon enough, but I'm reluctant. Like you said H***i, they all just say "It's just a show!" But it's not just a show! This entire show, particularly Max and Liz, have taught me so much over the past three years. I've learned about the importantance of having friends, the value of trust and honesty, and the necessity of being selfless and truly being thankful for the people you know that make your life worth living. Most of all, I've learned about love. And I can say without a doubt, that love does conquet all things. I couldn't have said it any better myself. Roswell has done so many things to so many people. Roswell's actors have given their time to come and mingle with the fans at parties as well as on the set. There are not a lot of shows with actors that would do that. They have given their time to work for charity and give personal donations to charities that have been featured on Roswell (such as the Pediatric Aids Foundation that was promoted during the episode A Roswell Christmas Carol - The Miracle). There will only be one cast like the Roswell cast and that is the Roswell cast. The Roswell fans - now there's something else that only the originals will ever be! We are a lot of different people with a lot of different backgrounds and even more different personalities with only one thing in common - Roswell. Roswell fans have put behind everything they ever fought about to band together to save this show. We rallied together to save it and we rallied together to get money for various charities. Different fans would organize their own parties and such (such as the Philly fans, Brendan Fehr fans, etc) to raise money for charity. No other fans rally together to help charities or gain more money quickly than Roswell fans. Roswell fans are truly one in a million. :-) Now, I would like to personally thank the Roswell cast, the writers, the crew, the producers, and all the people associated with Roswell for bringing me and fellow Roswell fans a show that had an essence about it that no other show can or will ever capture. You brought such joy to Roswell fans everywhere and I can't seem to thank you enough for everything you did . . . all the time you put in to bring Roswell alive every week for all of us. Jason Katims, it was your vision that we should be grateful for. You were the creator of Roswell and we should all be thanking you for your vision that brought us joy, sadness, and happiness you brought into our homes through our television and brought to our eyes and minds every week. Melinda Metz, it was your series of books that gave Jason Katims the idea for Roswell. You may have just joined the Roswell crew during Season Three but it was you that started it all and, for that, I thank you. The cast - you are the most amazing cast ever to have been on a television show. All of you, I'm sure, will go onto bigger and better things in life and I pray that God protects you everywhere you go and with every step you make. In the words of Liz Parker, "There will never be another you." Indeed, there will never be another cast in the history of television that will capture all of the love and chemistry that all of your shared. I personally wish all of you the best of luck in anything you may do. And so I bring my Roswell Tribute to a close. But, remember this - Roswell may have only been brought to our minds and eyes for three years but it will remain in our hearts forever. Roswell Forever - There Will Never Be Another Roswell! Love for you always, Always on my mind and in my heart, Jamie L. Dickens |
