Jubert and I attended the same school from kindergarten until highschool at Paco Catholic School. We knew the same set of friends, though we never knew each other. During our senior years, we were both on the same chorale recitation group that would be competing in an inter-school finals. We had different partners at first. But during a practice that the group had at Paco Park, our teacher paired us up . And so, that was the first time that we formally met....in a lovely setting at Paco Park. While walking to a nearby canteen on our way to lunch, my shoe lace came undone. Jubert offered to tie it for me. That was the start of a great friendship between us. Jubert and I became the best of friends in the coming months. Although, we both felt something special for each other, we didn't admit it for fear of losing the other's friendship. |
Until one afternoon on October 19,1990, while we were talking on the phone, I heard the song "Kaytagal" by Rachel Alejandro on the radio and began singing along. Jubert asked me, "Alin ang kaytagal? And finally, through that song, Jubert expressed how much he loved me. And I know, I felt the same way. We became steady after that, but in 1993, I had to go to the States to be with my parents. With sadness in our hearts, we said goodbye to each other but promised to keep our relationship strong despite the distance between us. In January 1995, I returned to Manila to visit Jubert. When Jubert saw me, he told me he's not letting me go again. He asked me if I want to start a family with him. With no hesitation.... I said yes. |
Finally, on December 14, 1995, Jubert and I first got married in a simple cerermony. Eight years after, we're blessed with three children. On December 14, 2003,,Jubert and I will renew our vows to each other and share this precious day with our family and friends. |
