Though they share the same dad, half sisters Mona (True) and Dee Dee (Atkins) know each other only by reputation. Mona was raised by her bohemian single mother (Hopkins), while Dee Dee lived in the lap of luxury with dad and his social-climbing second wife(Pettiford) When Dee Dee makes a break for independence and moves into Mona's apartment building, sibling resentment soon gives way to sisterly bonding-if their squabbling mothers would ever leave them in peace.
