Gross Motor
Line different colored small craft pompoms alongside the beam. When the children get to a green one, clap their hands.
Lay beam FLAT on the floor and try to do an Irish Jig on it.
Carry a pail of gold (real coins) across the beam.
Slide sideways down the beam to get a Lacky Charm cereal snack.
Cut out little green foot prints that trial around the room ending up on the balance beam to get home.

INSIDE
Play The Guessing Game useing Green clover, plastic Green bean, plastic Brussel sprout, a real coin, felt cutouts of Leprechaun, Shamrock, gold etc...
Learn an Irish jig! Use classroom instrument to play along with Irish Music.
Spray paint macaroni with gold paint and then hide them around the room. They love finding the gold..
Bounce Green balloons around the circle.
Toss Green bean bags through a large cutout of a shamrock.
Put Green bean bags on your shoulder, thigh, feet, ankle, knee, etc... as you walk around the circle.
Sew sequins onto Gold bean bags. Pretend they are coins. Toss in Gold covered can and count the coins.

OUTSIDE
Let children decorate wagons with Green streamers and have a St. Patricks Day parade.
Take a box of rainbow colored scarves outside.
Provide rainbow colored dress up clothes for outside.
Before the children arrive hide yellow circles all over the playground. Have a treasure hunt.
Spray paint small rocks Gold and hide on the playground.
Play hide-and-seek shamrock. Let one child with a shamrock taped to their shirt to hide. Everyone else tries to find the child.

TRADITIONAL
Play Red Rover substituting Green for Red. Example: Green Rover, Green Rover send Alice right over.
Play Red Light, Green Light with "sneaking" like a Leprechaun past the "Pot of Gold" (the "It" child.) Place a gold bean bag on the "Pot of Gold" child.
