Get some rubber worms from a sporting store. Lay them beside the beam.
Creep, tip toe, float, fly, be a monster, be a bat etc... down the beam (As it lays FLAT on the floor).
Turn out the lights and use a flashlight down the beam.
Use black and orange bean bags balanced on your head.

INSIDE

Play The Guessing Game using rubber worms, lizards, bats, small stuffed pumpkin etc...
Tip!: Turn out the lights and let the "It" person use a flashlight to question the others.
Play "Tape the eye on the pumpkin" Good for teaching "triangle" shapes.
Toss bean bags in a large plastic pumpkin or trash can decorated orange or black.
Play Someone's In The Middle Acting Like a cat, ghost, bat, fat pumpkin, spooky tree, the wind, an owl etc...
Play "Which Which Witch". Use a white tissue or bean bag. Chidren stand in a circle and "It" child walks around and drops the bean bag behind someone. Then they see if they can run back to their place before they are tagged by the child who picks up the bean bag.
Play "Ring Around The Ghost".
Dance to spooky music. There are several records and tapes out for kids. Be aware of your younger ones. Some really get scared of the music even if it was designed for the age level and the classroom.
Make an indoor obstacle course out of sheets and low tables. Wear masks made by the children to go through the course.

OUTSIDE

Play Catch The Cat. Make a headband out of black constuction paper. Tape on cat ears. Tape a long black tail on child out of material or reinforced paper. Use duct tape. Who ever grabs the tail off the cat gets to be next. Tip: Have several "tails" ready if made out of paper so everyone can have a turn being the Cat.
Ride child size brooms on the playground..
Play hide and seek.
Play streamer race. Tape orange and black streamers (just paper strips will do) all along the playground fence row. Race 2 or 3 kids at the time down to get their streamers. They may run away with their streamers afterwards. Everyone's a winner.
Set some props up such as an area for the pumpkin patch. (sandbox with plastic pumpkins), witche's cave (small tent), Ghost house (table with sheet over it)etc... Let the kids divide up and role play by themselves after having read a Halloween story in the room.
Play "Ring Around The Witch" with the "witch" wearing a tall black hat.

TRADITIONAL

Play Red Rover using Ghost,Boo!,Pumpkin,Witch etc.... in front of child's name. Example: Red Rover, Red Rover send Witch Alice right over.
Play Red Light, Green Light new colors.
Use a large black circle for "stop", orange circle for "go". "It" child turns around with back facing others. That's spooky enough so if the child doesn't want too don't press it. "It" child holds up a circle over their heads. Other children have to do what "It" child decides before playing. Example: Everyone must creep, slide, fly, float etc... when they see the orange circle and stop when they see the black circle. It's just as fun if they looking at everyone. Younger ones really like to watch while your older ones like to be chilled at the thought of people creeping up on them.
