Put different
colored plastic easter eggs beside the balance beam.
Name the colors or count the eggs as children make a trip down
the bunny lane.
Cut out a small pink or white
circle for each child. Roll tape on the back and let kids
stick on their noses. Pretend
to be a walking bunny down the beam.
Put the beam flat on the floor and practice
bunny hops over it. Try different levels but not too high.
Put a Red or Pink bean bag on top of their heads
and balance as they cross over.
INSIDE
Play
The Guessing Game use small plastic egg, small stuffed
chick, felt cutouts of egg, basket,
chick, bunny etc...
Place two strips of masking tape
on the floor about 18 - 36 inches apart. Have a race blowing
a white ping pong ball from one side to another.
Count how many times each child can jump like a bunny.
This is funny because nobody (including the teacher!) can
count that fast or far yet.
I make sure we end up laughing.
Bounce Lavendar and Pink baloons around the circle.
Toss Red and Pink bean bags in a white can.
Put bean bags on your shoulder, thigh, feet, ankle, knee, etc...
Make a valentine path out of cutout construction paper hearts.
Have kids walk, hop, jiggle, laugh, cry, tip toe, walk sideways etc...
to the carrot at the end.
I always set a small bowl of carrot sticks at the end of the trail.
Push a white ping pong ball around a stuffed bunny with your nose.
Let kids use a stuffed bunny to push a ball around another
stuffed bunny.
OUTSIDE
Play hop and seek bunny on the playground.
Put on your ears you made in the room and take a walk about town.
Read Peter Cottontail and continue by role playing on the playground.
Give the kids some plastic vegetables, small buckets and children's
garden tools. Pick out who Mr. McGregor will be
then let the kids pick out who Mama, sister, brother bunny is and
so on. After setting the scene you need to
let the kids do the rest. Staying out of role play gets your best
results.
Take a farmer's hat, a bag of cotton balls and a role of tape outside.
Tape a cottonball on everyone's back and put the hat on the
farmer. Farmer chases the bunnies and grabs a cottonball.
As soon as he gets a cottonball he gives that child the hat and
runs away. Be sure to keep the tape and extra balls handy.
Have a bunny parade wearing ears and dress up Easter clothes.
Use bikes on a track if you have one.
Deliver decorated eggs to other classes or other kids on the playground.
Let each child carry a decorated bag (from art class)
with a decorated plastic egg in each. Don't forget the boss
in the office!
TRADITIONAL
