Lay different christmas
objects beside the beam. Have children identify as they pass by them.
Example: Tinsel, tinsel braids, Christmas tree cutouts, draydels,
stockings, etc...
Drape green tinsel braid around the children and
as they walk across the beam sing "Oh Christmas Tree,
Oh Christmas Tree, my name is Sally Johnson".
True you may have to drag some last names out but it just gives
everyone the giggles.
Get everybody to sit on the beam and sing songs.
Pretend it's a sled and your taking off!
Tape a red circle made of construction paper
to your nose and gallop like Rudolph around the beam.
INSIDE
Play
The Guessing Game and use small felt Christmas Trees, tiny
Christmas ball,
piece of tinsel, small stocking (sock), a felt star, etc... Get a
small fake Christmas tree and decorate. Play Ring Around The
Christmas Tree. Toss
styrofoam Christmas balls
into a decorated trash can or box. Get
small gifts, chocolate kisses is what I use. Wrap in little
individual packages.
One for each child. Call each child up and have them shake
the gift and try
to guess what is inside. After they guess put it into Santa's bag.
When everyone has had a turn give out the gifts and let the
children open them.
OUTSIDE
Take a small Santa Suit outside
(Hopefully a parent can make one). Let the kids take turns
dressing up and handing out balls
to play with on the playground.
Take decorations out such as tinsel braid
and have the children decorate playground toys.
Play hopscotch alternating red and green squares.
Play hide and seek presents using small cutouts of paper gifts.
Make and take reindeer headbands outside.
Load wagons up with playground toys and have children deliver them.
This is also a good way to clean up for the day!
Hang stockings from the top of the jungle gym.
Play Christmas Relay. Have children run, hop, skip, twirl, jump,
walk, hop with a Christmas present in their hands.
TRADITIONAL
Play Red Rover
with the reindeer names in front of childs real name.
Example:
Red Rover, Red Rover send Dasher-Alice right over.
Play Red Light, Green Light with the "it"
person
holding Santa's bag. Each child gets a turn to hold the bag.
