Spanish Santa Fe

This is a web-site devoted to the Spanish  heritage of Santa Fe. There seems to be an effort afoot to obliterate hundreds of years of tradition in favor of new-age culture. Preservation of history is exceedingly important if the original families of Santa Fe are to survive here. There are plenty of descendants of Spanish colonists who have had to leave town because of high taxes wrought by the steady influx of transplants from the east and west coasts. The Plaza downtown is full of dogs and transient Anglo panhandlers now, thanks to the decisions of the city council. The town used to be one of the cleanest in the U.S. Locals mostly avoid the downtown area, with its nouvelle cuisine and fake New Mexican food. I'm going to recommend some restaurants that don't change their menus at the whims of fanciful chefs. One of these isTiny's, just off Cerrillos on Pen Road. The lack of pretension there is refreshing, as is the traditional New Mexican cooking. Another traditional culinary landmark in Santa F is The Pantry.
I'll be adding more material here as I have time.
