Implicate/Explicate Order

Order, Complexity, and Chaos

Implicate order

Things are what they are by virtue of the relations they are comprised of.
i.e. Phenomena are implicitly ordered.

The implicate order is the total set of relations that comprise a phenomena.

Explicate Order

When one apprehends the order within a phenomena, this is the result of discerning the set of relations that comprise the phenomena.

It is said to be an orderly phenomena.

The revealed order is explicit.

Order and Disorder

When we fail to discern the order implicit in a phenomena, we tend to say that the phenomena is disorderly, random, or chaotic.

It is not that the phenomena is disordered, but rather that we have failed to apprehend the implicit order within the phenomena.

It is our thinking that is disordered , not the phenomena itself.
