"Disposable" Ameri-Canes

I sometimes find it odd that a full year after graduating from the University of Miami that I should devote so much real-estate in this blog to their newspaper, but Adam Flomenbuam's piece in today's Hurricane deserves special attention. Yes, I know, he's trying to be funny - he's just not succeeding. It's not that his article (like Chris Hall's half-hearted expose of wasteful spending) didn't have potential to highlight actual problems facing the current students in UM community (tossing out otherwise good students based on clothing, study habits or choice of residence hall shouldn't be one of them).

For instance, the university apparently thought that commuter parking was "disposable" so they built the University Village over the largest commuter lot (which is still reflected in the maps posted on the University's web site). Whoever made that mistake is disposable, as are the vendors who clog the UC Breezeway everyday (campus organizations excluded). I believe enough ink has been spilled on the new cumbersome Metrobus - I mean Hurry Cane shuttle system, but not enough credit is given lately to the writers who come up with brilliant op-ed ideas  just to fuck them up beyond recognition (like the one under discussion here).

That's probably enough grammatically-incorrect bloviating for one day. Servus.
