1:30 pm – “Young Paul” Nye came over to assess how much water is own basement. Mom called him, and it took him a remarkably short time for him to get to the apartment from her house.

“Its up to the landing,” Paul said looking down the darkened stairway. This is good news – not completely flooded, but “will still take a week to drain on its own.” He said he’d try and get a pump out here as soon as possible.

CNN is showing live shots of homes flooded to their rooftops near my brother’s river house on the Delaware. No word yet how much damage his house actually sustained, but the footage wasn’t very promising (we’d just repaired it after Hurricane Ivan in 2004).
