The Miami Hurricane ran a special post-interview interview with Donna Shalala following her appearance last week on The Colbert Report. Not surprisingly, the UMH threw mostly softballs at their president, but a check of their recent online poll this morning showed only 20% of respondents were impressed with the Madam President's performance. Twenty percent!
Not only did Shalala invite Stephen to the Gables, She also managed to get Hillary Clinton for a campaign stop, and has aspirations of having all the candidates to speak on campus at some point over the next year. I applaud her ambitious agenda, but I think the paper is over-hyping this a bit. Yes, political speakers may bring some much needed positive exposure but stating that they "raise the value of a UM degree" is probably an overstating it.
