Every Georgia schoolchildren learns, at least for the moment, Sidney Lanier\'s romantic poems "The Marshes of Glynn" and "The Song of the Chattahoochee". Poet, lawyer, linguist, and musician, Lanier was born in 1842 in the tidy Victorian cottage at 935 High Street. His desk, furnishings, and personal effects are displayed at Lanier College.
