Stuart Smith - Heaven And Earth
There's not a whole lot I can say about Stuart Smith that isn't already on my Rockfest'99 review page. He's awesome. A hell of a guitar player and songwriter. Actually for some reason he kind of reminds me of my brother, who is also a hell of a guitar player but never did anything with it. I can't explain it, he just does.
Anyway, I bought this album up at Rockfest because I was so impressed with the live performance, and it has quickly become one of my favorites. The lead vocals on the album are provided by Kelly Hansen, Joe Lynn Turner, Glenn Hughes and Richie Sambora. (And just a bit of UFI here, it was Kelly Hansen we had the pleasure of hearing back in July). The musicians that contributed to this album make up a kind of who's who among some of music's best. From the title track "Heaven And Earth" to the final "Lose My Number" this is simply one of the best albums I've ever owned. This album features everything from hard-driven rock to spectacular instrumentals to heartbreaking ballads. As I've already said, this is real rock'n'roll at it's finest.
