RockFest '99 - Nisku, Alberta, Canada
I was expecting to hear mostly cuts off the new album. After all, this was the Euphoria tour. Or pre-tour. Or whatever the hell they're calling it. But this was a classic rock weekend, and I couldn't have been more pleasantly wrong.
With the exclusive exception of the Slang tour, I'd always managed to miss Leppard live (See my Def Leppard Page). All told, they played only two songs off Euphoria. And they played my all time favorite song, something I never thought I'd ever hear live since it came off High'N'Dry.
I'm eternally optimistic that when Def Leppard gets back to North America, they'll actually tour Canada again, play Calgary and I will get to hear the new stuff live. I still want to hear Joe hit that high note at the end of 'Promises' (he cheated - sung it lower). And being that I've been a Leppardite for nearly 20 years with a very large appreciation for the voice the man has, I really, really want to hear 'All Night' live. Hey, can you blame me?
For now, here's what I got to hear up in Nisku, and to be honest, it almost made up for missing the High'N'Dry, Pyromania, Hysteria and Adrenalize tours.
