Who exactly are we to pray to?

Who we are to pray to has not generated as much controversy as our previous topic speaking in tongues, but still many Christians are confused about who we are supposed to pray to. For example, many people think that we should pray to various Saints like Peter and Paul and John and that we should also pray to Mary, the mother of Jesus.

Let's look over some articles about this topic:

Praying to Mary and other Saints
Against praying to Mary and other Saints

We know what man's opinion of this is now, let's read what Scripture says.

Now let's look over what exactly the Scripture is saying.

Matthew 5:6-14 & Luke 11:1-4 I think this is really simple...the Disciples asked Jesus how to pray....and Jesus told them. How clearer an example do we need? He gives us three basic things we should do when we pray. 1) Praise God "hallowed be Thy name"; 2) Confess our sins "forgive us our debts"; 3) To ask Him for help "lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil". Jesus starts the prayer, "Our Father which art in Heaven"...showing we are to pray to God the Father.
