The Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church lists these requirements as necessary for salvation:
#1129 "The Church states that for believers the sacraments of the New Covenant are necessary for salvation."
#1257 states that "The Lord himself affirms that Baptism is necessary for salvation and Baptism is necessary for salvation for those to whom the gospel has been proclaimed and God has bound salvation to the sacrament of Baptism."
# 846 "Outside the (Catholic) Church there is no salvation"

According to the Bible to be saved:
Rom 10:8-10 "that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." (NKJV)
Rom. 10:13 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
Eph 2:8-9 "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." (NKJV)
Acts 16:30-31a "And he brought them out and said, 'Sirs, what must I do to be saved?' So they said, 'Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved'" (NKJV)

Notice that the central focus of the Scriptures is on Jesus and faith in Him for salvation. However, central to the Roman Catholic version of salvation is the Roman Catholic Church and their sacraments.

In Luke chapter 23 verses 42 and 43 it says: "42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. 43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise." Clearly the criminal on the cross did not keep the catholic church's sacraments, but yet Jesus saved him. Salvation is through faith alone...we can not "earn" our salvation or work for it. It is a gift freely offered to us. It is our choice whether we accept it or reject it. For more information on how to be saved, please visit my Saved Page.
