In Memory of Columbine High School

Anniversary Prayer

Dear God:

Today is the anniversary of one of america's greatest tragedies. Sometimes I wonder if you were there when it happend. Some would say no you weren't because of the suffering occuring before and after the shooting. However I feel you were. One of the greatest gifts you have given us was the ability to make choices. These choices can be good, and believe it or not, many of us make bad choices. What is important is we learn from all choices. You were with the teacher when he decided to save the other students at the expense of his own life. You were with the girl who professed her life to be with you just before that doorway opened. In fact, you were there for Eric and Dylan for all of their lives; only they by choice were not there with you.

Father, of all the teachers I have had in all my 14 yrs of school, you are by far the toughest, with the most harsh of lessons. However, you are by far the one who loves his students the most. I may not understand you, but it doesn't mean I don't believe in you or your teachings.

Today, I write you asking you to bless everyone in Littleton and throughout the rest of the world a little more if just for this whole week. As Jesus was crucified, resurected, and transcended all in this weeks time, the memories of Columbine shall do the same this week in all of our hearts.

Please hear me Father,

Your Son,

Eric Johnson
