Remembrance

When I glanced out on to the wintry morn
I could not see the billowed clouds around;
Instead there was the blood-red sky of mourn,
Betrayal and a deathly feel aground.

Do you remember playing in the snow?
Rolling amongst the hills that day, crying
Far and wide for help; none wanted to go.
I never forget your uncried tears held in.

Bright blue sky invaded eternal lives
As we once thought we were, to be destroyed
By mortal fire that did scorch and contrive
To make me forget your smile so enjoyed.

The burnt black sky then wept warm, unruly
Shame; I shall see that sight so often here,
In my mind's eye, where it all gruesomely
Frays my nerves. I will remember your hideous leer.
