Alone, alone
The tears I cried have long since dried,
And you’ve long since gone away.
I took a shot and missed the lot,
And now I am here alone.
Alone, alone,
With heart as heavy as stone,
My feet worn out, my voice gone dead,
And there lies open my empty bed.
You went from here, I stayed with fear,
My life feels empty now.
Alone, alone,
Just myself left to atone.
My cries fall flat, my heels run slow,
I wait and wait, and still you do not show.
Gone forever, all ties you succeed to sever.
All that remain are my memories of your beautiful name.
Alone, alone,
Can you not sense my saddening tone?
The books are closed, the windows shut;
If only you had said that word: ‘But . . .’
