| Q: Who are the Jaycees and what do they do? A: Young women and men ages 21 through 39 are eligible to be an active Jaycee; 40 and above are eligible for associate membership. Jaycee members are provided leadership training opportunities for themselves through the projects and programs they plan, organize and conduct in their communities and chapters. The organization is also known as the Junior Chamber of Commerce. Q: How much time does membership require? A: The average member participates about 4 hours per month. You are permitted to choose to participate in the activities in which you are most interested. However, it is reasonable to understand that the more you participate, the more opportunities you will have to learn, grow and help others. Q: How many meetings must I attend? A: The Greater Johnstown Jaycee Board members meet the 2nd Monday of each month and general members the 4th Monday of each month at various locations around the Johnstown area. Meetings begin at 6:00 p.m. Members are encouraged to attend to learn about upcoming chapter activities and events and to socialize with other members. You are NOT, however, obligated to attend the monthly chapter meetings. Q: What are the benefits of active membership? A: A Jaycee member has the opportunity to meet, network and interact with an aggressive group of young people from their community to help conduct worthwhile projects which benefit others and to fulfill a need for personal growth. These opportunities are part of the Jaycee Advantage! Q: How much does membership cost? A: The Greater Johnstown Active Jaycees annual dues are $50.00. Corporate sponsorships are also available. This amount also provides you with membership in the Pennsylvania Jaycees, The United States Junior Chamber of Commerce, and The Junior Chamber International. Included in your dues are subscriptions to several Jaycee Publications. Q: How do I join? A: Joining the Greater Johnstown Jaycees is easy. Simply complete the attached membership application and mail it with a check for $50.00 payable to the Greater Johnstown Jaycees at PO Box 837, Johnstown, PA 15907. |
