Jaguar's Cup Final: Sumie Sakai vs. Yuko Kosugi
Cooga & Yuki Miyazaki vs. Crusher Maedomari & Ryuna. Cool reverse Frankensteiner off 1st finisher by Miyazaki. 2:37 shown.
Shark Tsuchiya vs. Yuko Kosugi. Usual Shark nonsense. She took like 2 bumps. 3:46 shown.
Bukyogun vs. Oz Academy: The Bloody & Fang Suzuki vs. Sugar Sato & Chikayo Nagashima. Bloody vs. Nagashima was real good, but Fang & Sato were worthless. 3:53 shown.
Jd' Junior Title: Sumie Sakai vs. Megumi Yabushita. These two still wrestled the same style at this point, but it worked because they bumped for each other so well. They went along with each others moves too easily though. Some really cool submission spots, but others that didn't do a whole lot for the match. The monkey flip off the top into an udehishigigyakujujigatame finisher was innovative and the smoothness of the application was pretty incredible. ***
Lioness Asuka vs. Kyoko Inoue. Lioness was definitely pushing the gimmick style. Kyoko would try to get back to traditional wrestling, but since she couldn't do enough damage to Lioness to be able to exert her will upon her, these two just wound up killed each other with big moves involving props and weapons. With the exception of a few rest holds that killed the momentum, it was a fast-paced all action match. It was similar to their previous matches, but they were great matches so it's hard to complain about that. The main difference was that Lioness' seconds, The Bloody & Fang Suzuki, were pissed that Lioness abandoned them for SSU, so they helped their enemy Kyoko out, while Lioness had new lackeys Sugar Sato & Chikayo Nagashima interfering on her behalf. The finish wasn't really fulfilling after all the killer spots, but both women were on top of their game today and gave us another really strong spot oriented match. This might have been the best match of their series if they had come up with a more convincing way to close the door on Kyoko's title reign, but nonetheless it was a strong contender for women's match of the year. ****1/4
Megumi Yabushita vs. Tomoka Isozaki (AJW). Isozaki was way out of her league. Instead of Yabushita pulling her up, Isozaki dragged her down. They didn't really do anything, no real sequences and very few chances were taken. *1/4
KAZUKI vs. Fang Suzuki. KAZUKI is Kazuko Fujiwara with colored hair and some make up. Fang is some despicable looking butch thing whose teeth are as horrendous as her wrestling. Fang actually wasn't as bad as usual though. She actually carried a match, and it wasn't even horrible. I didn't know if I'd ever be able to write that. Fang has also added a crucifix roll and a rolling senton to help bolster her weak arsenal. Morimatsu helped KAZUKI out, but that still wasn't enough to defeat the vaunted vampire. *1/4
AWF Sekai Joshi Senshuken Jiai: Yuko Kosugi vs. The Bloody. 30 minutes is really too long for these two to be wrestling each other, but they did a better job than I expected. The pacing was slow because they were going so long, and it never really kicked into high gear (although the last 6 minutes were the best), but it was a solid, fairly well built match. They proved that they have the ability and the confidence in themselves to pull a tough task like this off. They definitely did a better job of putting over the toll of the match than Satomura & Kato did in their 30 minute match from 8/23/98. In spite of some lulls in the action and an overall lack of dynamics that would help take this to the next level, it was an impressive match. ***1/4
Lioness Asuka & Mima Shimoda & Morimatsu vs. Cooga & Megumi Yabushita & Sumie Sakai. Lioness working with Yabushita & Sakai is definitely something to look forward to. The problem is getting them to the level where they can have a chance, even a slim one, of beating her. This problem has been looming over Jd' since Jaguar announced she was retiring, and a year later, they still haven't really done anything to amend it. The addition of Shimoda really helped the match because each side had two strong workers to make up for the stiffs known as Cooga & Morimatsu. The match itself was kind of chaotic in a good way, with the heels doing a lot of double and triple teaming as well as using weapons. Sakai was highly impressive, as always. Even though the outcome was never in doubt, Asuka vs. Sakai and Yabushita made it a good match. ***
AWF Sekai Joshi Senshuken Jiai: Yuko Kosugi vs. Megumi Yabushita. Yabushita wins title.

10/9/99 Osaka NGK HallTWF Sekai Tag Senshuken: The Bloody & Fang Suzuki vs. Megumi Yabushita & Sumie Sakai. Yabushita & Sakai win titles.
Cooga & Sachie Abe vs. Saya Endo & Fang Suzuki. No one looked good. 3:09 shown.
Kyoko Inoue vs. Hiroyo Muto. Muto was ridiculously overmatched. Beyond that, Muto didn't look good because she's a power wrestler, but Kyoko is too damn big for her to lift. Kyoko was unselfish here because she let Muto hang around a lot longer than she should have, and Muto did get to kick out of a few lariats and make a comeback. It just didn't work because you can't get Muto over when the matchup forces her to go totally out of her element offensively. *1/2
Megumi Yabushita vs. Sumie Sakai. Lots of nice moves, and constant counters. These two work really well together and, although it was a bit on the short side, this was a really good match while it lasted. ***1/4
Dynamite Kansai & Kayoko Haruyama vs. Lioness Asuka & Morimatsu. Lioness wrestled most of the match because Morimatsu is a stiff. Kansai & Haruyama were both motivated, and there wrestling was better than normal because Lioness is top notch opposition. Still, even though Lioness was doing a good job of carrying her, it was really apparent how much Kansai's skills have deteriorated. **
AWF Sekai Joshi Senshuken Jiai: The Bloody vs. Yuko Kosugi. This had the same basic level of work as usual, actually it was slightly better, but mainly it was a smarter match. There was more build and more of a reason for things to be happening. This match flowed really well because the spots and counters logically set up the next move. Bloody invented a new diving footstomp where Kosugi was draped across two folding chairs that were set up so someone could sit in them. She also invented a new version of the Dragon suplex where she puts her hands on top of her opponents shoulders instead of locking a full nelson. The drawback was that Bloody was too dominant, but this is the best match the four (Bloody, Kosugi, Sakai, or Yabushita) have had without a veteran involved. ***3/4
Sachie Abe vs. Obacchi Iizuka. The "highlight" is Obacchi coming out dressed like a Christmas tree. Obacchi just clowns around. She keeps grabbing Abe's breasts. 1/2*
Hiroyo Muto vs. Fang Suzuki. The execution was good, bu they don't have very difficult or interesting spots. *1/4
Megumi Yabushita vs. Ran Maru. All action with Maru showing a lot of potential. The match was really short though since Maru is so inexperienced. *1/2
Cooga & Yuko Kosugi & Sumie Sakai vs. Lioness Asuka & Morimatsu & KAZUKI. Short match with good action. Lioness put on a good show, but she didn't get the help she needed from Kosugi or Sakai to make up for the other three not being very good. **1/4
AWF Sekai Joshi Senshuken Jiai: Bloody is trying to wrestle smarter. They didn't do as many spots, but the match had more direction. Still, the moves are basically what made the match because the early portion was somewhat dull and basically meaningless. ***1/4
Megumi Yabushita vs. Yuko Kosugi. This was a fun little match, but they were off when it came to their setup and sequences and it was also kind of short. Yabushita did a cool swandive tope con hilo into the ring, but for whatever reason she wasn't able to bridge properly on her suplexes that go right into pins like the Yabuhebigatame. **
Sachie Abe & Obacchi Iizuka vs. Hiroyo Muto & Ranmaru. Obacchi actually did a sky twister press. 2:57 shown
Saya Endo vs. KAZUKI. 2:43 shown
Crusher Maedomari & Morimatsu vs. The Bloody & Fang Suzuki. Bloody looked good when she was in, but it wasn't her match as she really got no offense in. Morimatsu was passable, but the other two stiffs offered nothing. 4:37 shown
Sumie Sakai vs. Nanae Takahashi. Sakai got a better match out of Nanae than most everyone that wrestles her all the time. Takahashi still looked pathetic whenever she had the chance to, and managed to take the match down several notches with her screw ups and sloppiness. Sakai looked about as good as she ever has as a worker, doing everything really fast and making it seem so natural. Still, even though she kept the sequences to a minimum, what can you do when your opponent is slipping off the rope when you try to Frankensteiner her off the top, causing a scary landing for both wrestlers? **1/4
TWF Sekai Single Senshuken Jiai: Lioness Asuka vs. Cooga. Lioness did a very good job of carrying this. She sold enough that Cooga would have been somewhat credible if her offense looked good. The problem with Cooga is that her offense never looks good. She does good moves, but they just lack the impact to be impressive, especially when compared to Lioness' offense which is all perfectly executed high impact manuevers. It was the typical all action Lioness big match though, which is a good thing. Although Cooga prevented it from reaching the usual level, it was better than anyone else could do with Cooga. Cooga unmasked after the match and retired. It's ironic that her last singles match in Jd' was also practically her best. ***1/4
