GLOBAL HARMONY AMONG RELIGIONS
There is a need for peace among all religions, denominations and sects. For too long we have killed and scorned others of different religious faiths. Over the centuries, billions of lives have been lost and scarred due to religious wars and forced attempts at proselytisation.
We need to acknowledge the fact that this world and humanity existed before organized religion. Furthermore, we need to be aware that religion was meant to improve our lives and relationship with God. Even the condemnation of atheists, agnostics and cults by "religious" persons needs to be questioned. Why ? Because these are expressions that should be allowed to exist or be tolerated in a democracy.
Religion is supposed to strengthen the relationship between humanity and God. Instead many of us have used religion as a mask and shield to accomplish earthly goals. It is unfortunate that in the name of religion we have oppressed, deceived, exploited, condemned and killed. Does God want or expect these antisocial actions??
No religion is better than another religion. Likewise, no religion or denomination guarantees us a place in Heaven, a better life after death, more happiness or a quicker path to enlightenment than another religion or denomination. Thus, we need to set aside differences in teachings and doctrines and embrace fellow humans belonging to different religions. When will the Christians, Hindus, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists and tribal religions join hands ???
Countries experiencing religious friction can take steps to defuse this tension be promoting inter-religious contact at forums, festival, public and private gatherings. Gradual and increasing contact among open-minded and rational persons will sow the seeds of religious peace.
Every year on October 26th, each religion, denomination, or sect should make an attempt to extend an arm of fellowship and goodwill to another religion that seems different.
