My grandmother was a Kyle and she was from the Knoxville, TN area (JeffersonCity, TN). But her parents were both kyles just different families but same last name. We have been searching for more info.. And this has been a start. It is just hard tracing African American's since a lot of record were destroyed.

Tracing what is turning out to be a vast family history. The best I have done so far is with the Kyles. James Kyle m. Jane wilson in Co. Sligo in Ireland in 1838. The next official document I have shows what MUST be his son turning up in Lanrk in Scotland where he married Ellen Conarty in 1864. Their daughter Catherine Kyle later married William McKenzie in 1899 in Bothwell also in (Lanarkshire in Scotland). Their daughter (my grandma) was Catherine McKenzie, later Catherine Noble, after marrying William N ble earlier this century. My mother is married to a Webster. I am intrested in the Kyles, the McKenzies (many of whom emigrated from Scotland to the States at the turn of the century) the Nobles, Websters, Dunns, and Wests. however most of the latter have lived in the North East of Scotland for quite a few generati ns.

My boyfriend is a Tyree (LeRoy Tyree), in the African American branch of the family. There is another couple who have checked into a website on Tyree genealogy, also African American in lineage. The website branches to many links. Go to: http://users.aol.com/rtyree. Robert Tyree is in OH, and the site links to Elinor Tyree in TX, who has done tons of research. It's really interesting. In the southern seaboard states, in the 1700's and into 1800's, Tyrees were often slave owners and I would guess that there were inter acial relationships, as was common, with some perhaps being given the Tyree name and then , of course, slaves were often identified by their owners' names. Elinor, in her histories, mentions a grave for a Lucy Tyree (a slave) and that another Tyree owned slaves. "My" Tyree's family originated from KY, where there were lots of White and, I presume, Black Tyrees. Hope this helps. My own familial genealogical tracing goes back to Austria, Transylvania (!, no vampires, honest! in that ever changing Austro-Ge man empire), England and Ireland. My maiden name was Gaal, with original family histories of Herrmanns, Householders, and Bennetts. My Aunt has done lots of work on our history.

If you ever come accros , any Kyle's in that area, dop me a line and I will watch out for yours as well. I am helping my family to fill out our family tree. My great-great grandfather was Joseph Tyree, born in Franklin County Virginia in or around Rocky Mount. Born in slavery around 1840(?), he had several siblings whose names we don't know. Thanks to my g andfather, who wrote a family history in the 1920s, we have been able to trace almost all of his descendants, but are interested in finding something out about his siblings and our possible historical connections to other Black Tyree families.

Fascinating website. Congratulations on your progress with your family history. I have just begun some (rather slow) research into my own family tree (or perhaps I should say, my own BRANCH of the family tree). You may be interested in the message below sent to me by one Alec Kyle of New Jersey. It is interesting, almost fantastic stuff: (if for any reason the message doesn't copy well here, send me an Email and I will forward the original message) FAMILY (Kyles who think they're Anglo-Saxons may have braiwashed themselves) The Kyle family is amazingly old and distinguished, stemming from astrologer-priests at Ur, 2,500 BC, and including rulers in Lydia, Etruria, Rome, Strathclyde, the Islands of Britain & Man, Rheget, York & Elfet, and include an unusually respected Roman emperor. For nearly a thousand years the Caelius/Caeliorum gensrex discharged the duties of Caelispex/Coelispex of Rome upon the two of the seven hills named for us (Mons Caelius is now the Lateran Hill). Coelius Votepacus, a relation of the Emperor Caelius Balbinus came to Britain, was made king in Aer, subsequently of all Strathclyde/Cumbria and overking of 27 other kingdoms; he was known in British (old Welsh) as Coel Hen Gotebog and in English as Old King Cole. His grandson married the *heiress ["gwawt," not "gwawl"*] of a long line of Shmu'Elim *melechim of a *trading settlement called *Hebrew Place , EborAcos, and became the first of seven sovereign Dukes of York, Samuels I-VII. [*indicates not yet blessed by academia] We are the only imperial house in the world that takes the rank of Servitor/Lowness rather than Highness. We count some truly admirable, selflessly dedicated agnates, among them the Crown Prince Cles Frpna (Caeles Verbenna/Urgeni) of the Etruscans, who conquered the Tiber-side settlement of rapists and marauders about 50 years after its foundation, installed his brother as king, found him tyrannical, and replaced him with Servius Tullius; a thousand year-line of historians, statesmen, merchants, legislators, honest military commanders at Rome; St. Patricius; St. Kentigern; St. Rhun; Huges Cuil de Stratclut, logistics marshal of the crusades; Urgenitus Maximus [Urien Fawr], Owain the Great; the Coles, earls of Inniskillen; a U.S. Senator; poet/author; Samuel Kyle, heroic famine-era protestant Bishop of Cork; a leading US banker; Sam Kyle, Belfast trades unionist. I think it's a shame to let this magnificent heritage fade from living memory. From the time of Cles Frpna, or before, until the late 1800s there was a regularly constituted family structure, similar to a Scottish clan or a continental Hausrecht, called Gens Caelius. Its head was called simply Caelius or The Kyle. There was also a Senate and the usual other officials. The last Acting Kyle, a very old gentleman who was also hereditary Sorb-horde-leader and had just made a lengthy speech in Court Gothic from an attic window denouncing Hitler, was killed with every scrap of old records in the Dresden firebombing. I took it upon myself to have a few relations elect me Acting Kyle and have been for some years piecing together what I could, including acquiring some Welsh and improving my Greek & Latin. Would you be interested in helping restart the Kyle/Coel/[etc.] family society? Affinity groups like this tend to survive best when they combine a pro bono purpose with a way to provide a good living for some of their members, and I have identified a number of ways, e.g., a Kyle credit card, that might serve that purpose. -- Alecsandr Cael a chyd-lafurwyr / Alec Kyle & collaborators, 180-L4 Franklin Corner Road, Lawrenceville, New Jersey 08648 USA 609-620-1373 (fax /74). By the way, I chose your name from an electronic list of people with an e-address who bear our family name . If you want to know about me, you can look me up in Who's Who in the World, 9th edition, under Cuil de Sratclut, and I will gladly furnish other personal and professional references if desired.

I have some geneology compiled by my father. It traces back to New England but no further. Some strands (not Webster) go back to England for quite some time.

I visited your site, being of the Hagerman family, for more info on family originating from America. My great-grandfather was Albert Carloso Hagerman, who came to South Africa from USA in the early 20th century. thanks for the page, and in the interest in the family lineage. Tracy June Hagerman.

geneology is my interest, finding out what i can would be cool, my geneology on the kyle side traces back to an abrupt point where my great grand father Harry Kyle (maybe spelt Kile) who was orphaned at a young age. his father is rumored to be named Char es Kile (however this is unkown to be the true father because records do not confirm this to full legitamicy). any information would be greatly appreciated, and a return of geneology would be sent immediately. hopefully this will help

My main Genealogy interest is researching the Surname Hagerman -(See homepage) - I have seven separate lines of Hagerman listed (I do have scant lines of "strays" as well)..... I would be interested in expanding this database.... (I'll check and see if I can find any relationship) Good Luck in your endeavours
