| DEA Schedule IV antianxiety benzodiazepine which potentiates the actions of GABA, especially in limbic system and reticular formation. Enhances presynaptic inhibition and inhibits spinal polysynaptic afferent (sensory) pathways. | |||||||||||||
| Indications: Seizures with active convulsions. |

| Contraindications: Benzodiazepine sensitivity, narrow angle glaucoma, psychosis, pregnancy or lactation. |

| Common Side Effects: Dizziness, drowsiness, orthostatic hypotension, blurred vision Potentially Lethal Side Effects: Neutropenia, respiratory depression, ECG changes, tachycardia. |

| Adult dosing*: Seizures, active: Slow IV: 5-10mg (weight/age adjustment) q 5-10 min per indication |
