Aspirin
Salicylate non-narcotic analgesic, NSAID, antipyretic, antiplatelet which blocks pain impulses in CNS.  Inhibits prostaglandin synthesis.  Antipyretic action results from vasodilation of peripheral vasculature.  Decreases platelet aggregation by mechanism of near-total, rapid inhibition of thromboxane A2 production.
Indications:
In the emergency setting, chest pain suggestive of acute coronary syndrome or acute myocardial infarction.
Contraindications:
Child <12 y/o, children with flu-like Sx, known hypersesnsitivity.  Pregnancy D.
Relative only: Asthma, peptic ulcer.
Common Side Effects: 
Nausea, vomiting, rash
Potentially Lethal Side Effects:
Thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis, leukopenia, neutropenia, hemolytic anemia, convulsions, coma, GI bleeding, hepatitis.
Adult dosing:
Chest pain indicative of ischemia
PO/BUC:  324mg, chewed and dissolved in mouth.
Pediatric dosing*:
Not routinely administered to children in prehospital setting
