Adenosine
Endogenous nucleoside antidysrhythmic which acts by slowing conduction through the AV node, interrupting AV nodal re-entry pathway circuit.
Indications: Symptomatic PSVT
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity
2nd or 3rd degree AV Block
Sick Sinus Syndrome
Atrial flutter
Atrial fibrillation
Common Side Effects:
Nausea, dyspnea, chest pressure, facial flushing

Potentially Lethal Side Effects:
Atrial tachydysrythmias
Adult dosing (ACLS):
Rapid IV with Rapid IV flush
Dose 1:  6mg
Doses 2 and 3:  12mg
Pediatric dosing (PALS):
Rapid IV/IO with Rapid flush
Dose 1:  0.1 mg/kg  Max 6mg
Dose 2:  0.2 mg/kg  Max 12mg
Notes:
- Use medium-to-large bore, short catheter
- Medication port flush with 10cc NaCl using >18 ga needle
- Precede with vagal maneuvers in stable patients.
- Consider synchronized DC cardioversion in unstable patients
