What can I say but the Old School reunion was totally gnarly!
There were so many riders represented from Bob Haro to the new school riders there for the NORA cup awards.
Vert - Mirra Dirt - Nasty Street - Van Homan
Jay and I had a great talk and it's been 20 years of knowing each other and to our surprise we are still rippin' it up...he more than me!
It's been a long time but finally hooked up with Brett and Ray. Actually Ray snuck up and took a shot of me at the show and took off. He later found out it was J.T. and not a Dad wearing a Ramp up the Jawn shirt.
It was great to see Marty Schlesinger again and we go back to 1985! Krt Schmidt and Moliterno were there so it was awesome to have the Minnesota guys together again. Rick would drive up for contests where we would show off our coaster brake talents back in the day.
The day before was another blast from the past where I reminisced with Woody Itson about the early contest days and living near him in California. The locals would get a jam circle going with Woody near his house and a place where Woody would showcase his lastest tricks.
He did an awesome job announcing the GIANT Freestyle and Mountain bike team. The show was crazy with all the partying going on outside. It was time for Voelker and Noli to do their dual airs and one of them was totally insane...Rob did a bar-spin air about 5' out and Dave did a 540 over him. That's normal but the timing was off and Dave literally finished his rotation on Rob's back! Dave asked if I got a pic of that but I didn't. All I got was this pic and a free GIANT shirt from Dave himself.
The award ceremony was out of hand with beer bottles being thrown around and breaking all over the place. It got especially nuts when Van Homan declared he didn't deserve his award and dropped it off the stage onto the dance floor where the NORA cup broke off its base. He was so wasted and here's a shot of him during our photo shoot that went a little crazy!
Mark Eaton gave us a sneak peak at the History of Freestylin' and it looked totally knarly! It will be a must see when it's done!
I just want to say that the all the Ramp up the Jawn/RIDE guys did a superbe job for organizing the party that will go down in the BMX history books!
