J.T. Freestyle was started! Built some steel ramps, thanks Brian and John McMillan, started my bikeshop/mail order, and continued to do Freestyle shows to promote the sport of BMX. Notice the custom Vans :-) This picture was taken by Scott Carlson from my second story bedroom window. The ramp was 8ft. tall and 6ft. wide at the time.
Radical Rick Hughes joined me in 1983. Rick had a ton of natural talent and was a little crazy too! We did a lot of "doubles routines" and here I'm balancing on the trick ramp while he is doing a ramp stall/me grabbing his tire. Thanks Boys and Girls club for having us perform that day!
For '83 this bike was dialed!! Pre-Rotor days and pegs but notice the homemade Pott's mod. The Black Skyway's and white wall tires were so cool! The tires worked well due to the lack of knobbies and just looked awesome! When I went out to the Venice Beach contest in California Rick and I got a lot of compliments on how our bikes were setup. Oh, coaster brakes rule!!!!
Classic X-up one footer! This is the location of my first trick show ever, the HogHead festival in Proctor Minnesota.
