| 1981 was a great year! We headed to the Rondo Classic at the St. Paul Civic Center. All the top pros were there and we stayed at the St. Paul Radisson. It was so cool because there were so many of us bikers there we totally controlled the place. Riding our bikes all around the hotel, pool area, and escalators. We found out where some of the Pro's rooms were and hung out with them, Kevin McNeil was really cool! |
| The day of the race I headed into the elevator with my bike and who walks in but Bob Haro and Bob Morales!! I was speechless! I had my Haro JT plate on my bike and Bob said, "Nice plate!" I still didn't know what to say but finally commented on how cool his products are and looking forward to their show. |
| The show was awesome and they performed with the plexiglass style quarter pipe and kickturn. I saw them ride their bikes backwards and as soon as I got home I was practicing all the moves I saw. I continued to race but all my spare time was mastering all the new "Freestyle" moves and finally got another bike to do just freestyle. Thanks Bob for inventing Freestyle, the time you spent with me, and all that you have done for the sport!!!! |
