Freestylin' with a one handed one footed endo
1980 was a great year up to May 14th when I broke my leg at the track due to a previous fracture from ski jumping on downhill skis.

Before that I was concentrating on doing whatever I could on my bike.  Endos, 180's, bunnyhops, riding facing backwards, sliding grinds, and of course wheelies.

This is where things got started for me in Freestyle and it's been a great experience still to this day!!!

Busting a lookdown in '80!!
Racing was still a major part of my biking in 1980.  I lived down at the "Track" built behind my house ever since I was five.  I brought my shovel and dug a lot of holes to create our berms and jumps.  Later I got the neighborhood kids to pitch in so we could have the best track that was around.

I was laid up for 10 weeks with my broken leg which totally sucked due to it being prime time for racing.  It was hot and muggy which made for some serious itching sessions!

It gave me time to think of what parts I would need and to build a better racing bike and "beater" freestyle bike.
