| The National Tennis Rating Program (NTRP): NTRP 1.0 This Player is just starting to play Tennis. We recommend further lessons and practice to reach NTRP 2.5 before you attempt J*Tennis. NTRP 1.5 This Player has limited playing experience and is still working on getting the ball over the net; has some knowledge of scoring but is not familiar with basic positions and procedures for singles and doubles play. We recommend further lessons and practice to reach NTRP 2.5 before you attempt J*Tennis. NTRP 2.0 This Player may have had some lessons but needs on-court experience; has obvious stroke weakness but is beginning to feel comfortable with singles and doubles play. We recommend further lessons and practice to reach NTRP 2.5 before you attempt J*Tennis. NTRP 2.5 This Player has some more dependable strokes and is learning to judge where the ball is going; has weak court coverage or is often caught out of position, but is starting to keep the ball in play with other players of the same ability. This is the minimum level we recommend for J*Tennis play. Please sign up only for our Sunday Afternoon Shift #101, Social Tennis Play. NTRP 3.0 This player can place shots with moderate success; can sustain a rally of slow pace but is not comfortable with all strokes; lacks control when trying for power. Please sign up only for our Sunday Afternoon Shift #101, Social Tennis Play. NTRP 3.5 This player has acheived stroke dependability and direction on shots within reach, including forehand and backhand volleys, but still lacks depth and variety; seldom double faults and occasionally forces errors on the serve. Choose either Shift #101 or #102; be aware of superior players in #102 Advanced Play. NTRP 4.0 Dependable strokes forehand and backhand. Uses variety of shots - lobs, overheads, approach shots and volleys. Places first serve, forces some errors. Seldom out of position in doubles. NTRP 4.5 Begun to master power and spins. Sound footwork. Shot depth control. Can move opponent up & back. First serves with power & accuracy. Places 2nd serve. Rushes net some success doubles & singles. NTRP 5.0 Good shot anticipation. Frequent outstanding shots. Exceptional game-structuring consistency. Regularily hits winners, forces errors off short balls. Successful lobs, drop shots, half-volleys, overhead smashes. Good depth and spin on most second serves. NTRP 5.5 Executes all strokes offensively and defensively. Dependable shots under pressure. Analyzes opponents' styles and employs play patterns to assure winning points possibility. Hits winners or forces errors with 1st and 2nd serves. Return of serve is offensive weapon. J*Tennis maxes out at NTRP 5.5 NTRP 6.0 Mastered all above skills. Power & consistency major weapons. Varied competitive strategies & styles. Typically has had intensive training for nat'l competition at junior or collegiate levels. NTRP 6.5 Mastered all above skills. Experienced tournament player regularily travelling for competition & money. NTRP 7.0 THIS IS A WORLD-CLASS PLAYER |
