Jesus Tabernacle of Deliverance was born from the call of God upon our pastor's life. At the very first church meeting there were only three members in the service. Pastor David A. Billy Senior, Co-Pastor Elaine Billy and their only son at that time David Jr. Co-Pastor Elaine Billy is lovingly referred to as Mother Billy. As told to us through both they had service as if they were ministering to a large group of people. They truly believe that every service is a service unto the Lord. God is to be praised, magnified and glorified at all times.
Being sent by God to begin pastoral care, the young couple held services in the basement of their home, continued to witness to the unsaved and soon the ministry begin to grow. God soon blessed them with a little building located at
10827 Chalmers. This property was lovingly referred to as the brown side because the wall and the furnishings were all brown.
As the members begin to grow in love, faith and fellowship the brown side grew too small. An adjacent building was purchased. This adjacent building housed the pastor's study, dining room and the baptismal pool. A portion of the wall was knocked down. The portion of the wall that remained was kept in tact in order to afford those getting baptized privacy during their most precious moment. The beloved brown side was now the home of the church nursery and the dining hall. Praise the Lord this once small ministry began to grow by leaps and bounds.
As the ministry began to see growth yet another adjacent building was purchased. With the purchase of more property, the newly acquired property now housed the pastor's study, administrative offices and the restrooms.
Once more the membership outgrew the space and the church purchased the last available property. This property lovingly referred to as the blue side became the main sanctuary and also housed the tape ministry.
As more members began to be added unto the Body of Christ, they often heard the wonderful news of how those who'd joined under the brown side spent countless hours being lovingly nurtured and taught the pure unadulterated word of God. They spent many nights in shut ins, prayer services, making prayers and supplications unto the Lord and being taught the principles of salvation.
During the summer months a tent revival was held outside. These tent revivals bought many community residents to see what was going on. Many of the people who came to these tent revivals accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. This bought much joy to the hearts of both Pastor and Mother Billy as their greatest desire has always been and will always be to see many accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.
Pastor Billy and Mother Billy never forgot the vision that God had given unto them 20 years ago. The vision was to build God a new house. In order to build the Lord a new house, property had to be purchased. After purchasing the property on which the new church now sits, many challenges and obstacles had to be overcome. Pastor Billy, Mother Billy and the entire Jesus Tabernacle of Deliverance family continued to raise finances needed for the various phases of building the new church. After many challenges and obstacles, the dream finally came true.
Though there is still much to be done, the vision that God placed in the hearts of Pastor Billy and Mother Billy over 20 years ago is now a reality. On August 28, 2005 the new church home was officially dedicated back unto the Lord.
