Fall 2002

Presidents Remarks

It's has been a year since I and wonderful group of officers succeeded the honorable yet challenging positions. I often self evaluate myself asking if
I am meeting the need of the members, and am I serving the members satisfactorily. I am so thankful of my officers who are so professional and
superb individuals with compassion. I also am thankful for the members for their help to the association.

My goal last year was communication for I believed that we needed communication among members. I hope to think that we are communicating better through e-jtat member system, and e-newsletter, though we always need to improve communication not only between the members, but also with family, students, friends, etc. The benefit of member communication is that we now have a network spreaded all over in Texas among Japanese language teachers to share with others our knowledge and skills, and whatever we are doing. When more teachers connect, we've got to change. Then the change should come when we understand and respect each other. Texas motto is 'friendly', and I want our JTAT to be the most 'friendly' group of Japanese language teachers in the U.S. And you, members have proved it at the last TFLA conference. I know we are less than perfect but this fragile thread of communication is what binds us to each together for the greater JTAT. You are a bunch of great sensei!
