[Views of Heaven & Hell from a boy enjoying God’s Green]

There's a song by the Talking Heads called Heaven in which they (being the band, as it were) state, very succinctly, that Heaven is, in fact, a place where nothing happens. It's a good thought, really. It kinda changes my view of the place, being what it is. I've never really believed in the place. When i reached the age where you're allowed to form your own views & beliefs about such things (which is different for all people, mind you... in fact, some people never get there... & i'm not just talking about those "limbo" babies) i had it in my head that when you die, you die... & that's it. No afterlife, no souls going to Heaven or Hell or blah, blah, blah. You're done, your time is up & that's it. But the more i think about it (& thanks to that new wave sensation) this view was/is a real slight to those who really believe in that kinda shit. I'm not going to get into a religious discussion (discussion = funny, due to the fact that i'm not interacting with anyone... but i digress) here... i've stated before my lack of belief/faith & that i have nothing against those that have the faith that i lack. But i've never been "along for the ride" so to speak. But, as i stated a few sentences earlier, maybe i've been a bit obtuse. So i've reviewed my thoughts on the matter & come up with this: i think when people die they go where the hell ever they believed that they'd go. This is not a Pollyanna view of things. I'm assuming here that a majority of people that believe in Heaven also believe in Hell... & down you go. I guess i caught myself pushing my own beliefs on others in a roundabout sort of way & for that i apologize. Wait, no i don't. But whatever... all i'm saying is - go at it big boy!
