Announcements

Thanks to all those that came out for the last meeting on March 10th. We hope everyone has a good and safe Spring Break. It is well deserved! Please contact those media professionals for donations in order to have a successful Silent Auction in April. Good luck and it is very much appreciated.

Our next meeting will be in early April, 2004 at 4:00 pm in Self Hall. The meeting will be held in the Conference Area : Room 216. Please join us and bring your friends. Everyone is welcome!!

A Big Thank You to all those that came out to see Rick Bragg on February 5th, 2004! We had about 200 people come out to see Mr. Bragg talk about his new book and other funny related stories. He plans to stay around here in Jacksonville and finish a book about the true blue collar types from this area.

Thanks to all who attended the conference on international news coverage in America on October 22nd, 2003. The board consisted of eight members with Eason Jordan via satelite from overseas. The moderator was Terence Smith. There were well over two hours of news dabate on critical journalism ethics around the world. There was a luncheon following the debate. Students were given the chance to ask these professionals on international topics. Many ideas were shared with these great media professionals. This program was supported by The Ayers Family Institute for Community Journalism. We hope to bring many more events like this in the future. Thanks to Chris Wright and Steve Stephens from the 'Morning Mayhem' show which is broadcasted every morning from 6 until 9 on local K98 in Oxford, for coming out to see SPJ on February 16th. They talked to us right outside the 92j studios. It was a great time. Thanks to those that showed up and participated!

Thank you for all the people involved with selling the raffle tickets for Valentine's Day. We sold over 150 of them. Dee Williams and Diane Kimberly were the big winners.

SPJ t-shirts are still on sale! Please continue to support our local chapter.
