Special Report  UPDATED : 12/16/97-  Just received this e-mail today from Darby at Virge's Sportfishing up in Morro Bay :

To: JSun,

That's right. This morning no one showed up to go tuna fishing so Captains John Rowley, Dennis Lucenbach, myself and the guy from the rod rental room took the Fiesta out. At twelve miles we had our first stop. By Ten we had about twenty fish up to 45 pounds. At noon we pulled into a bird school and put on another 20 up to 60 pounds and are now back at the dock at 3:30 pm!! It's wide open!! We were all hooked up most of the time fishing and had to gaff our own fish or put the rod in a holder while we gaffed the other guy's. Needless to say we lost as many as were boated. Twelve hour trips will be departing every day at 5am for the off season price of $95. Call for reservations and more information. 1-800-762-5263. Don't miss this chance for Christmas tuna in Morro Bay!!! See ya fishn', Darby

No, this is not a joke. I have been receiving honest reports from then all season and this guy is for real!! If I didn't already have plans this weekend, you can bet I would be out there. Let's hope they stick around for X-mas.
