One of Bergle's best instrumentalists ever, Zippy devoted his entire life to music. The son of Vietnamese immigrants, Zippy grew up in Garden Grove, California, where he honed his oboe skills while playing with various punk and ska bands in the greater Los Angeles area. His crowning achievement came in 1986, when he played his oboe with The Eagles in the rare remixed version of "Peaceful, Easy Feeling." Zippy signed with Bergle Records and joined The Mongolloid Gestapo in March of 2001, seven months before his death. As a veteran musician, his guidance and professional knowledge were indispensible during the tedious production of the celebrated hits "My Popcorn Popper is Busted" and "I Love Uncle Ho," among others. Before The Mongolloid Gestapo's album was completed, however, Zippy suffocated in a public phonebooth near Asbury Park, New Jersey, leaving behind three grieving bandmates, two cute little Bassett Hound puppies (which were subsequently sold for science experiments), an economy-size crockpot, his beloved oboe, three packs of Winston Lights, and, of course, his inspiring music. |
