Palazzo Capponi
Hannibal's hideout in Florence! There's a funny story about how I got this picture. Being a Lecterphile in Florence, I asked around to find out the location of the Capponi library. No one had heard of any "Capponi", but someone told me where I could find the Palazzo Capponi, along the Arno River. Half an hour later, I was footsore and hadn't found any trace of anything ressembling a palace.

Well, I started heading back, dejected, when I saw something in the window of one of the seemlingly normal apartment buildings along the road. It was a
Hannibal movie poster displayed with several bottles of Chianti and a sign reading "Viva Capponi!" Well, I took a picture of this building, just in case it was the right place, although it certainly didn't look it.

When I returned to the States, I was surfing around the Internet, looking for pictures of the real Palazzo Capponi. When I saw the pictures, well, I almost tore my hair out. I had found the residence and not even realized it. But I did get a picture and here it is.
The one and only Capponi residence, seen from the side facing the Arno. The Hannibal poster is in the window just to the right.
