These pictures of Carina Vela were taken during the summer of 1998. Check back often, as we will be taking many more shots of sailing around the Cape Ann area.
Carina Vela at the slip in Gloucester before her first sail.
This photo was taken the first evening on her mooring in Ipswich.

One of my favorite pictures of Carina Vela.

This picture of Defiance and Carina Vela was taken at the Isles of Shoals from our dinghy.

This is our skipper, Steve Sousa, at the helm of #114.

Another picture of the skipper.
Take a look at these
pictures of my sister, Becky and I, "quite cold" during one of those late fall sailing days.

When something snaps on Defiance, who goes up the 47 foot mast? Answer: The very courageous Becky! Defiance was five miles out when her main snap-shackle let go, jamming the halyard into the sheave and releasing the mainsail. Becky got a great aerial view in the 30 degree temperatures, and some great bragging rights!
