The Walt Disney Co. has enlisted writing duo Derek Guiley and David Schneiderman to pen the straight-to-video sequel to The Parent Trap. The Remake of the 1961 Mouse House pic released in 1998.
The sequel will focus on the matchmaking twin girls, whose new endeavors lead to more perils in high school. Helmed by Nancy Meyers, the 1998 picture starred Dennis Quaid, Natasha Richardson, and Lindsay Lohan, who played both twins; the picture grossed $66.3 million at the domestic box office.
The scribe duo met on the set of "Operation Dumbo Drop", working production gigs. Last summer, they jointly penned and sold "American Girl" a romantic comedy spec scooped up by WB-based Alcon Prods. Andy Cadiff is attached to direct. |
