What is a robot?
"A machine capable of automatically operating without the need of human aid"
Why do we need/want robots? What can they do for us?
The need for robots in life can be explained in detail, but I will sum up my feelings on this subject. I feel robotics is a source of relief for manual labor. There are many robots that have replaced people in tedious and dangerous jobs. Robots are assisting people in major lifestyle changes. For example, people who could not walk can now walk with the aid of "smart" robotics. So in effect we need robots to function in areas of human need, and we want robots around to perform tedious functions that humans do not want to do. Robots in these capacities can work more effectively, consistently, and safer than humans in most functions. This is not to say they replace humans, because humans had to create them to perform these tasks. So what I am saying is they can free up more people to do more meaningful things with themselves.
